Singapore is the 1st city to host the Youth Olympics in 2010....it is indeed a landmark for Singapore...being a small country with limited resources and yet the International Olympic Committee has so much of faith in us as shown by their votes.
Here's food for thought yet again...how do you think we would benefit by hosting the Youth Olympics in 2010?

ShAwN here =)
Well, i think that the benefits of having to host the YOG will be good because tourists or rather competitors will get around singapore and understand better about our island.
After knowing more about our island, they may introduce other people to SIN and SIN will be famous..OVERNIGHT?
Another benefit is that they will get to see how well-facilitated SIN is and how CLEAN AND GREEN Singapore is.
But a disadvantage is that although SIN is C&G ( clean and green ) litterbugs are not scarce. They will maybe POLLUTE singapore??
And another is that SIN have a risk of terrorists attacks as many people willl be flying or travelling to SIN by modes of transport hijack-able by you-know-who. And i hope that the security at SIN will tighten a hundred fold.
END OF COMMENT!! =)
it wil;l show that even though singapore is a small country, we can arcieve alot! and maybe economy because many tourist will want to watch the event! GO team Singapore! Li Anne
I agree with Shawn on the possible threat of terrorism with Singapore hosting the Youth Olympics 2010...the security will definitely be massive. Thanks for a lengthy comment, Shawn.
Li Anne, your comment that Singapore icon could actually be our Singaporeans...in a way it is true since people are only our natural resource!
I think that it will benefit us as tourists and competitors who never came to Singapore before will get to know us and know that even though Singapore is small, it is well-facilitated.
But, where would Singapore host the Youth Olympic Games? The stadium is not ready yet.

I think the benefits of hosting Youth Olympic is that tourists and competitors round the world would come Singapore and would know how clean and well-facilitated Singapore is, even though it is just a small island.
Saying what Shawn had said, Having to have so many people from other countries coming Singapore, The chances of us having terrorists attacks would be higher. But i believe the Singapore Government would tighten security when the Youth Olympic is held.

when the tourists from other countries visit s'pore for YOG, it lasts for a few days and they might as well check out s'pore stuff. that way we could promote the s'pore flyer. tourist could go to the esplanade and watch a theatre performance and learn more bout s'pore's culture.they could also try some s'pore food and they might like s'pore for its cleanliness and would like to visit s'pore more often.
