A lot of you mentioned that Ah Meng should be the Singapore icon but you guys fail to realise that today Ah Meng is no longer with us. Though we mourn for his loss and will remember him forever, we need to move on to find another icon.
A number of you also mentioned that the Merlion should be our icon....yes, the Merlion is widely recognised as our symbol but it is an artificial construct...so do you really think that it should be a symbol representing Singapore.
For those of you who haven't posted yet, I urge to give me your thoughts on this matter.
And my dear 6/1 students, please don't limit yourselves to just only a one liner...instead elaborate on your replies. I encourage you guys to think deeper into issues!

well, since u have ttold us that ah meng, merlion etc. is not our icon, now i think our icon is Singaporeans! as it is the key sucess of our nation!
Ah meng was a great animal to singapore yet living things live and die but we will not forget him and we will strive on and he will always be behind us
